The AeroQuad Shield v2.1 allows you to easily connect the Sparkfun 9DOF sensor (which includes the ITG 3200 triple axis gyro, the ADXL 345 triple axis accelerometer and the HMC 5883L triple axis magnetometer) to an Arduino Mega to create a 6 degree of freedom inertial measurement unit (IMU). Additionally the BMP 085 barometer is supported for altitude hold. These are proven sensors for rock solid quadcopter flight!

Using a shield is a great alternative to wiring the sensors and other connections by hand. It reduces the introduction of accidental errors, reduces the amount of wires for a cleaner build and ultimately saves you time getting your quadcopter in the air!

The AeroQuad v2.1 Shield is delivered to you as a kit. You will need to solder the components listed in the Extended Information section. This gives the end user the flexibility to experiment and install additional sensors as the end user desires. There is also a prototype area for additional experimentation.

Features

 - Eight PWM outputs for motor control (header pins included)

 - Three servo outputs for camera stabilization or other operations for controlling servos (header pins included)

 - Eight servo style connector pads to accommodate an eight channel receiver (header pins included)

 - Battery voltage monitoring circuit (resistors included)

 - Pinouts available for the MAX 7456 On Screen Video Display

 - Pinouts available for GPS (sensors not included)

 - Gyro and accelerometer I2C based sensors have programmable low pass filters to remove sensor noise

 - Capability to run additional 3.3V or 5V I2C sensors by using a voltage level converter (included)

 - Two 5mm green and one red LED for AeroQuad status indicators (included)

 - The shield is specifically designed for the Arduino Mega

 - Depending on your application you have the choice to either install standard header pins or stackable header pins to connect the shield to your Arduino. Stackable headers pins gives you greater flexibility as you can stack additional shields on top in the future.
